Rescue Rebuild Heading to Special Pals
Special Pals is excited to announce Rescue Rebuild has chosen us for a very special shelter rehab project. For the first two weeks of January 2017, the Rescue Rebuild team and an army of volunteers will construct a Pooch Palace to provide a more homelike environment for our dogs and a Cattyshack for our cats to enjoy. Both buildings will provide our pals respite from living in a shelter environment. The space will also allow potential adopters the chance to get to know our adoptable animals in a quieter, less stressful place. Our goal is to increase the safety and well-being of our animals while increasing outside adoptions.
Rescue Rebuild is a volunteer and community-driven nonprofit program of GreaterGood.org and The Animal Rescue Site. The program identifies animal shelters and rescues in need of building repairs and improvements, additional exercise yards, cat enrichment areas, or other projects. The Rescue Rebuild team repairs, improves, and beautifies the shelter and grounds to improve the lives of the adoptable pets and shelter staff and volunteers. All work is completed by Rescue Rebuild and community volunteers.
Almost the entire cost to build the new Pooch Palace and Cattyshack will be covered by fundraising efforts by Rescue Rebuild and a generous donation from a Special Pals supporter. Rescue Rebuild began an Amazon Wish List to give our community supporters a chance to help. Items like dog and cat beds, seat cushions, area rugs, couches, and doggie doors are all needed to complete the builds. Items can be purchased online and shipped directly to Special Pals.
Special Pals expects an average of 20 volunteers to be onsite during the build. We hope to find donations of food, bottled water, and snacks to feed the volunteers during their stay. If you would like to help feed our fantastic volunteers or donate items to fully furnish the Pooch Palace or Cattyshack, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to follow us on our social media feeds to watch the progress. After the new buildings are completed, we invite you to stop by the shelter and see the Pooch Palace and Cattyshack first-hand.
